Oleoylethanolamide (or OEA for short) is a bioactive fatty acid. OEA has a similar structure to an endocannabinoid compound called anandamide. In preclinical research, OEA has been shown to play a role in maintaining energy balance and neuronal protection.^2,3

GPR119 is a receptor in your gastrointestinal tract that is distantly related to cannabinoid receptors.⁴ OEA interacts with GPR119 the same way anandamide interacts with its receptor.

Biochanin A

In a preclinical study, biochanin A was shown to significantly inhibit fatty acid amide hydrolase, or FAAH, an enzyme that breaks down anandamide.⁵ By inhibiting the breakdown of anandamide, biochanin A helps encourage youthful circulating levels of this health-promoting endocannabinoid.
